Marylanders Plant TreesSince 2009 the State of Maryland has partnered with businesses, communities and citizens to help fund and plant new tree cover. The original goal, which was 50,000 trees, was exceeded by more than 4,000. The State has issued a new challenge to double the goal and is asking citizens to plant an additional 50,000 trees by the end of 2012.The goal of the program is to enhance urban and community tree canopies through a community and citizen tree planting initiative. This program provides a way to increase Preston's canopy coverage while reducing planting costs to landowners. The program offers a $25 discount coupon per tree for your tree purchases. The coupon is good for any tree worth $50 or more and can be used to purchase multiple trees (one coupon per each tree purchased). The coupon is available to landowners to lower the costs of purchasing trees at designated nurseries.
